In the Midst of the Storm...He is There.

Everything felt like it was crashing in today.  Making sense of anything happening is beyond my human ability.  I felt like telling God, "Being sick is hard enough, why do I have to figure out all these other extra problems?? Why are You allowing all of this?"   So many things happened today! I spent a good chunk of time on the phone with different health insurance people trying to figure out what insurance I can get on because my current insurance is being cancelled due to Obama Care regulations.  And then it's looking more and more like one of the reasons I'm not getting better is because of mold in our house. (we need more tests to confirm this...but it's a very probable cause) Some Doctors I've talked with have gone so far to say they won't even treat me unless I move out into a different environment that has been tested and is mold free. Finding new insurance, possibly having to find a new place to live, figuring out who would live with me to help me when I'm too weak to function, deciding on which out of state clinic to go too, looking at the financial burden of it all... The stress of everything started crushing down hard and I started giving into feelings of hopelessness when I finally looked up and said, "God, I don't know what to do...but my eyes are on You."  Nothing changed about my circumstances...but everything somehow seemed a little brighter as He gently led me into His presence with the following Five Instructions for me:

Lord, I know you have all the answers...when everything is dark and I don't know where to turn...what do I do?   This is a question I asked Him in my journal today and He led me to these 5 points:

1.) BOW THE KNEE

Why Pray?  Because God says, "I will go before you and make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron." ~Isaiah 45:2  He can do what no one else can.  He can do the impossible.  He saved Daniel from the lions den, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from the fiery furnace, HE parted the Red Sea for the Israelites, He caused the walls of Jericho to come crashing down, healed the lame man, caused the blind to see.  What can our God not do?  He died on the cross and broke the curse of sin for me...for you.  Who else would we turn to for answers in this life?  No one...but Jesus.  <3  He is our shelter in the storm.  He is the one who answers when we call.  No matter what we need...God will answer...every single time.  We see that over and over and over again in the Scripture.  And so we choose to bow the knee before Him...the One who promised to go before us and make the "crooked places straight."

2.)  PRAISE HIM

There's something so precious when we can praise our Jesus...even with tears streaming down our faces. <3 And it's really amazing the transformation that takes place in our hearts when we begin to Praise...Praise not only brings glory to our God...but it also cuts through the darkness and brings in light...it replaces discouragement with encouragement...and despair with Hope.  It brings honor to the One who ALWAYS has your situation 100% taken care of.  " But You are holy, O You Who dwell in [the holy place where] the praises of Israel [are offered]" ~Psalms 22:3 (Amplified Version)  Praise is not only one of the most powerful weapons against the enemy...but God also inhabits the praises of His people.  When we choose to PRAISE even when everything around us seems to be closing in...He meets us in such a special way....every.single.time. <3  Don't believe me?  I dare you to try it...to sincerely try it and see the difference it makes! :)  "Who can cheer the heart like Jesus, By His presence all divine?  True and tender, pure and precious, O how blest to call Him mine!"

3.)  STAY FAITHFUL

We can't just pray and praise and then go right back to fretting and worrying and focusing on the stress and fear of our situation.  We must stay faithful to KEEP PRAYING...KEEP PRAISING...He is about to answer and open doors when we least expect it. <3  Look at Joseph in the Bible!  He was in prison!  Sometimes I feel like I'm in a prison in my physical body from being so sick....but at the perfect moment...just like Joseph's triumph...I know my triumph is coming.  And so is yours!  "Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you." ~Matthew 7:7  God's job is to answer in HIS perfect timing and HIS perfect way....our job is to STAY FAITHFUL in prayer and praise.  Because He is God!  He created the universe! He's got this situation of yours and mine...no matter how impossible it may seem to us...it's very simple to Him.

4.) TRUST HIM

So we need to stay faithful in PRAYING to HIM and PRAISING HIM...and then the fourth thing Jesus encouraged my heart with today was to TRUST HIM. Trust Him instead of giving into fear from the enemy.  Trust Him because He had the wisdom to create the universe, and had the power to save the World from sin.  Trust Him because if He is that Sovereign, don't you think He can help us?   TRUST HIM because HE has all the resources needed at His fingertips to bring triumph to your situation. "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he TRUSTS in you." ~Isaiah 26:3  God knows He has our situation under control...and so He is MORE than able to keep our hearts at perfect peace when we deliberately CHOOSE to TRUST Him.  "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God." ~Psalms 20:7  "Do not let your hearts be troubled (distressed, agitated). You believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely on God; believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely also on Me." ~John 14:1  Notice the first part of that verse...."DO NOT LET your hearts be troubled..."  It is an action.  We choose to pray...we choose to praise...we choose to stay faithful...and we also choose to TRUST. <3  "I will lift up my eyes to the hills - from whence comes my help?  My help comes from the Lord, who made Heaven and heart." ~Psalms 121:1-2

When you can't see His hand, trust His heart.

5.)  KEEP YOUR EYES UPWARD

Point your eyes up...into the beautiful LOVING eyes of your Savior. <3  Those eyes have only GOOD in store for you.  Those eyes gave their LIFE for you.  <3  Tell God. "Lord, we don't know what to do, but our eyes are on You." "For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly." ~Psalms 84:11  He doesn't withhold good from us, Precious Ones...no, never. <3  If He has allowed pain into my life...or into yours...we can be SURE that He will gently lead us through it safely to the other side...and in the meantime teach us PRECIOUS treasures of love, trust, joy, hope and praise that we may not have learned otherwise. <3 "Most all of God's jewels are crystallized tears."  More than ANYTHING else...He wants a RELATIONSHIP with us.  If pain causes us to draw closer to Him...oh dear heart, it is worth it.   I know that is one of the many reasons Jesus has allowed these trials in my life.  My relationship with Him is so much deeper than if I didn't have these trials...and although I am so ready to be better and move on and not be sick anymore...I wouldn't trade the experience of being sick for anything.  <3  His realness becomes so precious when He is all you can turn too.

Yes, like this song says!  I have been blessed...so very blessed. <3  No matter what the next step is in my life or yours...He KNOWS.  <3

Tonight I've prayed and praised Him...and now I'm choosing to rest in Him and keep my eyes on Him knowing that He's never failed me in the past and He won't now.  His plan is beyond my wildest dreams.  I can rest in sweet sleep tonight, knowing that my Father in Heaven has got this.  All of it.

Just a few thoughts from today....  Love and praying for all of you, friends!  I know each of you are fighting hard battles of your own.  Whatever they may be, keep your heart focused on Him.  He will never fail you.

Love Always,
Monica

"Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen." ~Ephesians 3:20-21

"Every day I fall on my knees because YOUR GRACE still amazes me."

P.S. This is written with the hope and prayer that it may bless whoever reads it...not in any way to make it seem like my trials are any harder than yours.  I know so many of you are fighting even harder battles than mine and I don't want any of you to stress about what I am going through or feel bad for me. Okay? PROMISE?? ;) ;)  I only share because of the amazing grace and peace He is bringing amidst all of it...and I pray you all can experience that peace too.  He is taking good care of me and I trust you will feel His care on your life as well. <3  I love you all so much!  Keep pressing on! <3 Our Father is so faithful and loving. <3

  2. I am praying about these new wrinkles in your situation, Monica...insurance is both a blessing and a curse, I know how difficult it is to deal with. Your perspective is spot-on, God has you in His hand, and your path will be made straight in His perfect time. Thank you for blessing all of us by sharing your walk with Him through the trials of this life :-)
