God of vengeance, SHINE FORTH!

  Tonight we prayed as a family...hearts burdened and overcome with grief over what is happening to all the Christians in Iraq.  Mass murder of Christians, ruthless torture, beheading of young children.  SO.MUCH.EVIL.  Oh Jesus...comfort them, PROTECT THEM, shield them, keep them STRONG IN YOU, encourage them and send Your warring angels to surround and guard them.  At one point tonight I just had to step outside into the cool night air for a few minutes and gaze upwards toward the sky...toward Heaven...toward Jesus...toward where the armies of Heaven are gathered.  Praying the WORD OF GOD brings the supernatural strength, unexplainable power, fortitude and tenacity to keep standing for truth that our dear brothers & sisters in Christ over in Iraq so desperately need in this hour of trial.  Oh Jesus, bless them with *Undaunted Courage* because of YOU living inside of them.

(If you're not aware of what's going on you can read more HERE)

The appalling atrocities that are happening over in Iraq overwhelms me....makes me feel so humanly weak about wanting desperately to help...and yet...I lift my eyes up to the hills, from where does our help come?  Our help comes from the LORD...the Maker of Heaven and Earth!!  I don't remember opening up my Bible to Psalms 94...but when I walked into my bedroom after family devotions my Bible was open to Psalms 94.  Wow.  Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful. Thank You, Jesus!  EXACTLY what I needed to read & claim tonight for my persecuted brothers & sisters in Christ:

Psalms 94

"O Lord, God of vengeance,
God of vengeance, SHINE FORTH!
Rise up, O Judge of the earth,
Render recompense to the proud,
How long shall the wicked, O Lord,
How long shall the wicked exult?
They pour forth words, they speak arrogantly;
All who do wickedness, vaunt themselves.
They crush Your people, O Lord,
And afflict Your heritage.
They slay the widow and the stranger
And murder the orphans.
They have said, "The Lord does not see,
Nor does the God of Jacob pay heed."

Pay heed, you senseless among the people;
And when will you understand, stupid ones?
He who planted the ear, does He not hear?
He who formed the eye, does He not see?
He who chastens the nations, will He not rebuke,
Even He who teaches man knowledge?
The Lord knows the thoughts of man,
That they are a mere breath.

Blessed is the man whom You chaste, O Lord,
And whom You teach out of Your law;
That you may grant him relief from the days of adversity,
Until a pit is dug for the wicked,
For the Lord will not abandon His people,
Nor will He forsake His inheritance.
For judgement will again be righteous,
And all the upright in heart will follow it.
Who will stand up for me against evildoers?
Who will take his stand for me against those who do wickedness?

If the Lord had not been my help,
My soul would soon have dwelt in the abode of silence.
If I should say, "My foot has slipped,"
Your lovingkindness, O Lord, will hold me up.
When my anxious thoughts multiply within me,
Your consolations delight my soul.
Can a throne of destruction be allied with You,
One which devises mischief by decree?
They band themselves together against the life of the righteous
And condemn the innocent to death.
But the Lord has been my stronghold,
And my God the rock of my refuge.
He has brought back their wickedness upon them
And will destroy them in their evil;
The Lord our God will destroy them.

Wow....powerful words.  Our God is our Redeemer here in America, Iraq, Turkey, Sudan...every prison seen and unseen, He breaks the bondage of physical and spiritual, He brings victory over spiritual enemies and physical enemies.  He sees and hears the pain in Iraq....and He is coming to Deliver.  Thank You, Jesus.  Keep us faithful prayer warriors for our persecuted brothers & sisters.

As it was in the days of it is for our persecuted brethren and us in any impossible to cross "Red Sea" we face.  The army of God surrounds us even when our physical eyes can't see it:

"Now when the attendant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was circling the city.  And his servant said to him, "Alas, my master! What shall we do?"  So he answered, "DO NOT FEAR, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them." Then Elisha prayed  and said, "O Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see." And the Lord opened the servant's eyes and he saw: and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha." ~ 2 Kings 15-17

Just love this song!  We sang it tonight during family devotions.   AMEN!!  Come, Lord Jesus.
